We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and seasoned Financial Controller with cross-border experience to join our rapidly-growing organization. The successful candidate will be leading the finance team and be primarily responsible for the entire accounting operations and managing budgetary objectives.
Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions (including AR and AP)
Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
Prepare and compile monthly, quarterly and yearly internal financial statements
Compile quarterly financial statements for reporting to external financial institutions
Assist external Accounting firms with conducting annual Notice to Reader or Review Statements with in the first 90 days of YE
Assist external Accounting firms with the preparation of annual tax filings
Assist external Accounting firms with the preparation of an annual SR&ED filing
Manages translation of foreign currency transactions
Manages intercompany reconciliation processes and procedures
Facilitate information requests from government agencies (e.g., CRA GST, payroll, corporate income tax)
Create, manage and oversee budgets and the budgetary process in consultation with the CEO and department heads
Institute budget tracking and reporting and meet with department heads and managers to review their budget performance
Oversee payroll administered via ADP, including tracking of vacation accruals and sick days to ensure the appropriate deductions and payouts are incorporated
Work with HR to implement a reimbursement and expense approval process
Assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes
CPA designation required. Please indicate in your application the date you received your CPA designation.
Minimum 5 years post-CPA experience, prior controllership experience is an asset
Strong knowledge of accounting principles including ASPE, especially in a Software/SaaS environment
Working knowledge of Canadian tax including SR&ED
Public accounting firm experience is an asset
Knowledge of US tax rules and accounting practices is an asset
US CPA designation an asset
Able to proactively identify potential business/tax issues
Experience creating financial statements which are reviewed by external auditors or accounting firms
Experience creating internal controls and processes over financial functions (e.g., expensive approval process, etc.)
